Working Time (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2013 published

The Working Time (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/2228) have been published and come into force on 1 October 2013. The regulations amend provisions in Schedule 2 of the Working Time Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/1833) (WTR 1998) following the abolition of the Agricultural Wages Board in England (see Practice note, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013: employment law provisions: Abolition of Agricultural Wages Board). Currently, under the Agricultural Wages (England and Wales) Order 2012, the leave year for all agricultural workers commences on 1 October. However, under the regulations, the normal rules under the WTR 1998 in respect of the commencement of the leave year and notice provisions for taking leave will apply to agricultural workers in England employed on or after 1 October 2013. The changes do not apply to agricultural workers in Wales or Scotland.
